EF Education First is the world leader in international education. With more than 40,500 staff and teachers working in 53 countries around the world, our mission is simple: opening the world through education. Since we were founded 50 years ago, EF has helped more than 15 million people see the world, learn a language, or earn an academic degree.

Cultural Care Au Pair, a subsidiary of EF, is an innovative provider of quality, flexible, and affordable in-home childcare. We are seeking a tenacious and determined sales director. In this exciting and rewarding role, you will oversee our matching process between families and au pairs.

We need someone who can aggressively charge forward towards a goal but we also need someone who can be a service pro and not only turn mad/upset/disappointed families—but someone who can teach the team how to sell with empathy and understand what host families are going through as they search for childcare. Looking for a big hire who can also quickly recognize trends and turn the team left or right based upon what we need to accomplish. We need someone smart who can figure out where our process is getting in the way of our progress (and then fix it).

As the Director of Sales, you will:

Supervise a team of Account Managers as they talk to families about joining the program and hosting an au pair in order to meet their childcare needs

Develop and execute a strategy to maintain a high conversion rate

Report sales projections to Vice President

Conduct training with team

Monitor call quality and volume and provide immediate feedback to team members

Be responsible for continuous process improvement and innovation

Maintain a working understanding of the competition

Requirements

Prior experience in telephone sales

Prior experience leading a team

Experience in data analysis using Microsoft Excel

Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM

Demonstrated experience and focus on customer service

Able to work well under pressure and remain goal-oriented under strict deadlines

Able to effectively manage high daily phone call and email volume

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Cultural Care Au Pair is a designated program sponsor by the U.S. Department of State and has been a proud member of the cultural exchange community for over 20 years. Au pairs are young men and women, 18-26 years of age, from around the world who live with an American host family and provide childcare while experiencing life and culture in a new country. Learn more about our program at www.culturalcare.com

About Cultural Care:

We help young adults from around the world make the impressive commitment to spend a year living away from family and friends to care for young children in an American host family. We also help support American parents in their search for a unique childcare solution where they welcome this young person from overseas into their home as a member of their family. This program takes a village to pull together and that’s where our team comes in. We are a worldwide organization based in more than 20 countries. Employees get excellent benefits and we focus on having lots of fun along the way. Beyond loving what we do, we are a solid group. The average tenure of our US staff is 6 years – and increasing! We are now about 50% based in our Boston and Denver offices and 50% field based.

About the role:

The Placement Manager role is super dynamic, working with host families during that special window of time between when they register for our program and when they select their au pair. You will listen to their (sometimes short, sometimes long) list of criteria, and guide them through this very important decision, which will directly affect their lives over the next year or more. You will talk to parents every day about their families, their schedules, their personalities, and their hopes for an amazing cultural exchange experience. If you can connect with people quickly, as well as follow up with a sense of urgency and desire to help, you will be great at this job. We guarantee lots of interesting stories!

This is a truly unique and diverse role in which your aptitude for active listening, problem-solving, keeping details straight and hitting weekly goals are all equally important. Your consultative approach and “soft” sales expertise will come in handy. You will be responsible for hitting goals within a defined region. Time management is essential as you keep track of your families and their needs. Sound overwhelming? It can be. If you’re the type that thrives on a challenge, we’re looking for you.

Some things about you:

You are competitive and love hitting goals.

You are adept at organizing multiple competing priorities

While others are bogged down in the reactive, you find ways to be proactive.

You truly love talking to people and are excited by the idea of helping them ease the chaos in their lives.

Challenge and high-pressure situations excite you – you’d much rather be crazy busy than bored.

You are resourceful. “I have no idea” is not in your vocabulary.

Your communication and customer service skills are in a dead heat for first place – you are not one to shy away from a difficult conversation.

While we will provide the training, you come with the emotional maturity and life experience to coach families on issues of childcare.

Some nitty gritty:

This job requires some Saturday work (4-6 times/year) and our team does have a peak season where, to hit your targets, you will find that extra hours may be necessary. You will be invited to travel to our au pair training school in NY once within your first year of employment and, shortly thereafter, will be invited to travel to an international Cultural Care office. Sometimes we celebrate hitting goals and honoring overseas visitors with evening dinners and events. We also have opportunities to dress up like superheroes and 90’s Rockstars, and attend Disco-themed parties. If you have a problem with this, you should think twice before applying. Our “over-the-top” culture permeates everything we do.

A few of our benefits:

Monthly base salary and bonus potential

Market-leading health insurance options with Harvard Pilgrim

3 weeks paid vacation (1st year), followed by 4 weeks (2nd year)

25% company match for your 401(k) plan with Fidelity

Cultural Care Au Pair is a division of EF Education First, the world leader in international education. Founded in 1965, EF’s mission is to open the world through education. To date, EF has helped millions of people learn a language, discover the world or earn an academic degree. For more information, visit http://www.ef.edu/careers.
